Florence Cathedral (Duomo)

The first stop of the tour is Piazza del Duomo, a 10-minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Here, you can visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, one of the most beautiful and largest in Europe, with its characteristic facade and the dome designed by Brunelleschi. In front, you’ll find the Baptistery of San Giovanni, and next to it, Giotto’s Campanile. Climbing the bell tower consists of 414 steps: a rewarding challenge that offers a spectacular view of all of Florence!

Piazza della Signoria

From Piazza del Duomo, continue on Via dei Calzaiuoli to reach Piazza della Signoria. Here, you’ll find the Neptune Fountain, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Loggia dei Lanzi. Just a few steps away is the Uffizi Gallery, where important masterpieces of Italian art are preserved, including many Renaissance works such as Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and “Primavera.” To avoid long waits in line, you can book your entrance ticket online. The visit takes at least 2 hours.

Ponte Vecchio

You cannot pass through Florence without seeing the symbol of the city, Ponte Vecchio. On its sides, you’ll observe ancient goldsmiths’ shops, and just above, the Vasari Corridor that provided the Medici with a reserved passage from Palazzo Pitti to Palazzo Vecchio. The peculiarity of this bridge? It is almost entirely closed, with a small opening overlooking the Arno. If you have time, complete the visit with a stroll along the Lungarno heading south towards the beach on the Arno River Urban Beach.

All’Antico Vinaio for lunch

In Florence, it’s a must to try the typical “schiacciata fiorentina” (Florentine flatbread). You can find it almost everywhere, but if you want to experience a place famous worldwide, you must go to All’Antico Vinaio, a reference point for Florentine street food. At lunchtime, you might find a bit of a line, but it’s worth it. It is located at Via dei Neri 65-74-76-78, near Piazza della Signoria.

Dinner at Perseus

If you’re in the mood to taste a good “fiorentina” (Florentine steak), head to Perseus, a historic restaurant just outside Florence at Via Don Minzoni 10, near Piazza della Libertà. The ambiance is informal, with a typically Tuscan style, and the dishes are delicious traditional ones. The advice: order the “fiorentina” and accompany it with a good glass of Chianti Classico!

Panoramic view from Piazzale Michelangelo

If you’re looking for a panoramic shot of Florence, make a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo, located in the Oltrarno district. The view of the city is breathtaking!

Selfie with David

Don’t leave the city without taking a selfie with David in Piazza della Signoria. It’s a copy; the original can be found at the Galleria dell’Accademia, but the wow effect is guaranteed.
